On the best mornings the whole valley fills with cloud and the house floats free of the world below, a sea of white broken only by red rooftops and the tips of the pines.

Wicker chairs, potted conifers and a wraparound rail that drops straight into the hills. Sun in the morning, cloud pouring up the slope by evening, quiet enough to hear the wind in the deodars.
